The path to regained strength

The Path Forward

The past few years have been a chapter I could never have imagined. Life changed suddenly, and it’s taken time to find my footing again. I’ve gone from hospital and rehabilitation to slowly rebuilding a new everyday life – bit by bit, with patience and far more trial and error than I ever expected.

It hasn’t been easy. My body sets limits, my head needs breaks, and my energy doesn’t always stretch far enough. At the same time, I’ve learned to appreciate the little things that used to pass me by – the quiet moments that make a day feel good. A calm morning without pressure. A glimpse of sunlight. A short walk on a day when my body cooperates.

I’ve also started to focus more on my health. I was overweight even before I got sick, but after the illness, it became even harder to stay in control. Low energy makes it easy to lose structure, and comfort often takes over in the moment. Still, I’m trying to make changes – not through strict diets or quick fixes, but through small adjustments I can actually maintain over time.

I’ve gone down from 124 to 116 kilos, and even though it’s taken time, I know that every kilo means more than just a number on a scale – it means taking back a piece of myself.

I try to see each day as a new opportunity, even when I don’t make much of it. Some days are heavy, others lighter. What matters most is to keep moving – to not stop completely.

I don’t write this to seem disciplined or strong, but because I believe many people can relate. Rebuilding life, no matter what has hit you, is about finding your own rhythm. It’s about holding on to what works, and accepting that progress often looks invisible to others.

For me, The Path Forward isn’t just a name – it’s the reminder I need every morning. That small steps are still steps. That I’m moving forward, even when it’s slow.
